Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 on harmonised rules on fair access to and use of data (the “EU Data Act”) entered into force on 11 January 2024 and has applied since 12 September 2025. The EU Data Act gives users of connected products and related services greater control over data generated through their use of those products and services. This page explains how eligible users may access data generated by their connected vehicle and related connected services through the MAXUS EDA PLATFORM (the “Platform”).

For the purposes of the EU Data Act, a user is a natural or legal person who owns a connected product, has been granted temporary rights to use it under a contract such as a rental or lease agreement, or receives a related service.

The Platform is currently intended for individual vehicle owners whose eligible connected vehicle was placed on the market in the European Union and is associated with an active Platform account.

Before using the Platform, you may be asked to verify your identity and your relationship with the relevant vehicle. If you are not the vehicle owner, please provide evidence of your contractual right to use the vehicle where requested.

The EU Data Act generally concerns raw and pre-processed product data and related service data generated by the use of a connected product or related service and readily available to the data holder, together with relevant metadata needed to understand and use the data.

Depending on the vehicle model, software version, connected services and technical availability, examples may include:

            •	vehicle status and operating data, such as speed, mileage, driving status
            •	battery, charging, fuel and energy data, such as state of charge, charging sessions, battery temperature and energy consumption
            •	diagnostic and maintenance-related data, such as diagnostic trouble codes, warning events, vehicle health status and relevant timestamps
            •	tyre, temperature and other sensor data, such as tyre pressure, wheel speed, vehicle temperature and acceleration
            •	relevant metadata, such as field definitions, units, timestamps, collection frequency, codes and data-format information
            

The precise data available for download depends on the vehicle, connected service, data retention period, technical architecture, data availability and applicable legal restrictions. The current catalogue of available data is provided in EU DATA ACT DATA CATALOGUE.

Data that are inferred or derived through substantial analysis, such as driver profiles, risk scores, predictive conclusions or other model outputs, and content such as media or communications content, may not fall within the scope of the EU Data Act access right. The scope must be assessed for each data item.

Please log into the platform

After logging in to the Platform, select the relevant vehicle and choose “Download vehicle data”. You may then select the available data categories, review the request and download the data in CSV/ZIP/OTHER FORMAT together with the relevant metadata, where available. The Platform will process requests without undue delay.

Vehicle data may contain or reveal personal data, including information relating to a vehicle owner, driver, passenger or other identifiable person. Where the requested data concern a person other than the requesting user, access or sharing may be subject to the General Data Protection Regulation and other applicable data protection requirements.

Certain data may also be subject to restrictions relating to trade secrets, cybersecurity, vehicle safety, intellectual property, third-party rights or other applicable laws. Where a restriction applies, we may limit, redact, defer or refuse access to the relevant data to the extent permitted by law, and will provide an explanation where required.

Access to data through the Platform does not itself grant access to vehicle functions, electronic control units, actuators, control commands, security credentials, source code, algorithms or other vehicle resources. The EU Data Act does not automatically create a right to operate or control the vehicle.
